Perkasie Leaves... A tradition

Every year we go to a park in Peraksie that has a ton of leaves and a a great, old metal slide. We go there because the kids love it and because I love taking pictures there... usually. This time was not fun on the camera end of things. Our camera is offically at the shop and I sure hope it gets its act together or we're through!! :)

We did have fun and daddy made a fun leaf pile for the kids to slide through so they loved it! I didn't get any pics that I love (oh except maybe the first ever pic of all 4 kids looking!!- see below) but I stuck some of them in a slideshow... I know.. lazy blogger. Forgive me, I just graded papers on this computer for the last 3 hours, so I am done with this computer for the night! :)

Totally didn't focus on Kira (ugh) but I ended up thinking the result was fun!

Reflections on Losing

This is the taller, less attractive, more competitive Mangin writing.

So during the Phillies game last night I had a sort of epiphany. It's not so much that I love winning or hate losing that makes me so competitive... it's that I ABSOLUTELY hate when someone else wins, especially at the my expense - such as my team losing to the despicable Yankees or being beaten by a girl at bowling. I don't get upset that I lost, I'm bigger than that. It's the fact that someone else won BECAUSE I lost. I can deal with losing - just not with other people winning. I haven't figured out yet if this is better or worse.

Halloween Day 2009

Well it lived up to all its hype! Halloween 2009 did not disappoint!
We started our morning doing a wet 5K and 1mile fun run at Peace Valley Park. It was wet from all the overnight rain, but it didn't rain while we ran. It wasn't the most organized race and I think all 200 runners were a little confused, but it ended well and was fun for all. My running partner (Jen) had to stay home with a sick kiddo, but Eric ran with me and we actually enjoyed ourselves (as much as anyone can enjoy a torturous 3.1 miles- I still HATE running) I shaved a little time off my run and felt good after this one (no monstrous hill!) I don't plan on another one until December b/c we're going to be away for the one thanksgiving weekend.

Halloween evening was so much fun! We had 19 people for pizza (Us, my parents, E's parents, the Bunneys, The Schmidts, The Motts, and Gree & Dusty) which was nice and relaxing and not insane like I thought it might be. After pizza we headed out trick or treating and all the kids enjoyed it. Cal loved being outside and seeing all the people. Kira thought it would have been a better idea to eat the candy as it was handed to us rather than save it for later. Kenzie and Kaden loved having their best pals with them and they once again led Papa Speed-Trick-or-Treating. To top it all off, we had a Phillies game to watch once the kids were in bed. We could have done without the 1 hr 20 min rain delay and the loss, but it still didn't dampen our day one little bit!
