Last Tuesday Eric went to Kenzie's class to share about his job. The unit was on community helpers and Kenzie convinced Mrs. Stradling and us that Daddy makes medicine and that helps people, so in the end she was crowned victorious and Daddy scheduled a time to share.
Eric talked with the kids about chemicals all around them and how God gives us many chemicals to help heal us... He talked about aloe, and some other things and then explained that his job is to find out which things can help our bodies and what hurts it. Then we were onto the fun part... experiments! The kids were given masks and gloves and each table created a chemical reaction! We used baking soda and vinegar in a bottle to make a balloon inflate with C02. The kids loved that one. Then, we went outside and did the mentos and soda explosion experiment- that one was a huge hit! The kids also liked that Eric brought fruity mentos for them to eat!
After that, we got to learn about dry ice. The kids were amazed that the relased gas didn't hurt them.
I was really proud of Eric and I know Kenzie was too!
This is when Eric had dry ice and water in a bottle. He added the balloon and it inflated... to many ooohs and ahhhs. :-)Eric talked with the kids about chemicals all around them and how God gives us many chemicals to help heal us...
