Life Lessons...

Yesterday while we were eating dinner I showed the fam. a drawing Kaden had done earlier in the day. It was his first person- I know that seems old, but we just never happened to draw people with him...he's a train guy-Anyways, I was talking to Eric about how nicely Kaden did and how we were very proud of him. Kenzie, being the big sister that she is says, "That's awful. I can draw much better than that!" So we explained that her words were not kind and she said sorry etc... Then Eric began to tell her that Kaden is only 3 years old and that as you get older you get better at things. Then came the kicker... he said some thing like, "Just like I'm older than you are, so I can draw things better than you can." Kenzie was not going to accept that without some proof... "okay daddy, let's see"... Well, now it was on! Eric decided to let Kenzie choose what they would draw- she chose a lion. The moment Kenzie began to draw Eric knew he was in trouble. He quickly said to me, "I don't know if she's going to learn a lesson, but I sure have!" He tried to interrupt Kenzie's drawing and suggest that they shoot baskets or wrestle instead, but she could not be swayed. Reluctantly, Eric began his drawing and I could not stop laughing... he was actually trying to look over and peek at Kenzie's to get an idea where to begin!

Well, the masterpieces were finished and I had to judge them... I wanted to help Eric make his point to her, but I just could not vote for the rabid looking cat with an afro! So Kenzie won. I do think she understands that she needs to be kind with her words and encouraging especially because she felt such pity for her daddy's awful drawing! So, lesson learned- for both Daddy and Kenzie!

2nd Place- Scary Rabid Afro Cat
1st Place Winner- Cute Lion
Eric hard at work...
Makenzie already done her lion, now working on a horse... :)

I demand a re-trial! Mine is CLEARLY better! Don't be prejudicial just b/c it's an "urban-lion"...
